America is build on asphalt, literally. Of the United States' two million-plus miles of paved roads and highways, roughly 94 percent of those are surfaced with asphalt. At C&E, our asphalt facility makes a wide variety of pavement mixes to fit your needs.

Asphalt pavement is usually around 95 percent aggregate, meaning that it is largely composed of stone, sand, or gravel, with five percent asphalt cement used as a binder. This binder comes about as the result of oil refining, and it glues the aggregate components together.

Standard Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA)

Standard hot mix asphalt is one or more layers of hot mix asphalt (HMA). HMA is one of the most used and durable paving materials on roads, and it is made by combining crushed gravel and sand with a black, sticky petroleum refining by-product known as liquid asphalt cement. By weight, asphalt is one of the world's most highly-recycled products, and many of C&E Concrete's HMA products incorporate recycled asphalt material.


Uses & Applications:

Road surfaces, just like bridges and buildings, are engineered structures, and they must be designed to withstand specific weight loads, volumes of traffic, and weather conditions.

State Specified Asphalt (DOT)

C&E Concrete also provides State Department of Transportation (DOT) approved mixes, asphalt treated bases (ATB), and cold mixes for temporary patching.


Uses & Applications:

These highly technical products can be used on major inter-state highway systems all the way down to rural country roads. Many city and country municipalities specify these types of asphaltic concretes on their public projects.
